Our History

Professionals Real Estate is an international real estate company that was founded in 1976 when a group of independent real estate agents decided to form a membership group.

A membership is different to a franchise in that a membership has no ‘owners’ or shareholders. The group was created ‘by the members, for the members’ and is not-for-profit. All fees paid by members are re-invested back into the delivery of products and services.

Professionals Real Estate Group has grown from its original 6 members to a network of over 300 offices throughout Australia, New Zealand, PNG, South Pacific Islands, South East Asia and now expanding into America. You can find all Professionals office contact information on our online member’s directory: www.professionals.com.au/membersdirectory.

In 1985 Professionals Papua New Guinea was formed under the management of Errol Dutton. He established the Professionals Port Moresby. In 1990 the Professionals Lae was formed when Mike Quinn established that office in partnership with the Professionals Port Moresby and Murray Fletcher. Later in 1992 the Professionals Port Moresby also opened a branch in Mount Hagen and in 1995 Mike Cassell of Madang Real Estate became Professionals Madang.

In 2001 the Professionals Port Moresby and Mount Hagen went into liquidation along with the holding company – Professionals Papua New Guinea Ltd. Mike Quinn, Murray Fletcher and Karen Quinn bought out the equity that Professionals Port Moresby had in Professionals Lae. Mike, Murray and Karen also established Professionals Niugini Ltd in 2003 which took over the licence for Professionals Real Estate Group in Papua New Guinea.

In 2005 representatives were appointed in Goroka – Ian Matthews, Rabaul – Tom Bullen and Wewak – Peter Johnston.

In 2006 two new full licences were issued. First was to Professionals NCD Real Estate Ltd which was formed by Agi Doko. Agi’s partners included Kaluwin Potuan and Professionals Lae Real Estate. The second was to Professionals Western Highlands Real Estate which was established by Jenny Ipata.

The Professionals Real Estate continues to be a significant force in real estate in Papua New Guinea. It is the only multi national real estate organisation to be represented in Papua New Guinea outside the capital – Port Moresby. It was heavily involved in establishment of the Real Estate Industry Association – the industry lobby and representative group – and has adopted both the REIA and Professionals Real Estate Group codes of ethics.
